FOUNDER & ARTIST
"We warmly invite you to stop in to view the rotating pieces or chat with me as I create new pieces of art in the studio!"
Young Lee started painting after watching her 70-year-old aunt's first solo art exhibition. Inspired by that moment, she began learning oil painting alongside her aunt. From there, she explored acrylics and mixed media before finding her true passion: traditional Sumi ink art.
She's a member of the Korean Art Association of Washington (KAAW) and Plein Air Washington, and her work has been shown throughout the greater Seattle area. Today, she creates and exhibits her art from her studio and gallery in Edmonds, where she works full-time as an artist.
Young Lee has loved art since she was young. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she came to the United States in 1986. To support her family, she owned and ran Asian Express, a popular restaurant in downtown Seattle. The restaurant's success later allowed her to open her first art gallery, in the Columbia Center Tower, from 2004 to 2009.
Today, Young paints mainly in acrylic, oil, and pastel. She's a member of the Korean Art Association of Washington (KAAW) and has shown her work throughout the Pacific Northwest — including at Tacoma Community College and the Shack Art Center in Everett — and took 2nd place in an exhibition with the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle.
Opening her own gallery lets Young keep pursuing her love of art, while sharing that passion with others.
